Elena Felton was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She was fascinated by photography at a young age. Her parents introduced her to a camera at 10 years old and from that moment, her world changed. Her father was her first client, she took pictures of him whenever he wasn’t paying attention, she also took pictures of her toys, flowers, and relatives. She admired everything about her camera, especially the clicking noise! After graduating from undergrad, she purchased her first camera, a Nikon D3200 which was two years ago, after she turned her passion for photography into a career. Her photos are elegant and vibrant with a touch of soft colors and amazing details. She’s work with clients around the DMV area and recently collaborated with local vendors in Baltimore to host her work. Elena’s is the founder of Belle Imagery Portraits, an up and coming business in the Baltimore area. She is my May Inspirational Woman of the Month!
What inspired you to do photography?
The beauty of people’s stories I capture on camera. I love fashion! I get a lot of my photographic inspiration from fashion magazines. Editorial photography is a passion of mine along with wedding photography. It’s my goal to create my own magazine filled with beautiful images of women.
How many hours does it take for you to do a photo shoot and edits?
Photographing a wedding can be anywhere from 7-12-hours and editing can be a 1-2-week process. For a small portrait shoot, the work is similar but less time consuming, it also depends on how many photos I take. Continue reading “Belle Imagery Photography”
I have been natural for YEARS, but I typically repeat the same hairstyles. I view YouTube videos and blogs all the time, but there was something unique about Kinky Curly Coily Me, a website that provided information on products, hair care, how to styles, the whole nine yards! This website was a one stop shop for all of my questions about natural hair. I was honored when the creator of this site, agreed to answer a few questions about her transition from relaxed to natural hair. She has an authentic relationship with her viewers, she tells it like it is, and after one video you WILL learn a thing or two about hair care.
To my surprise, Jenell B Stewart is a brand. Her Kinky Curly Coily Me website is just one of her many projects. This woman is slaying the Internet with her Youtube channel, blog, her daughter’s online boutique, and her new podcast she started in 2016. Later this year, she plans to launch a webinar about building an online presence. I follow her podcast on iTunes, (also available on Sound Cloud), her podcast talks about weight loss, marriage, entrepreneurship, and just about anything her listeners ask. She makes herself available to her audience allowing some of the questions to be the topic of her podcast. I thought this was great because she interacts with her audience, which makes her podcast personable for anyone who is listening. I have binged listen to the podcast this weekend while at the gym and doing my hair. I told a few people about the valuable information she puts out there for her viewers. Her goal is to inspire women to better themselves, and I must say she is on the right path! Continue reading “Jenell B Stewart”
We get disturbed thinking about reoccurring bills and other priorities that require our financial attention. We go to work and for some of us, we are unsatisfied with our position, especially those working for companies with little to no growth. Many people want to resign from their jobs but do not have enough money in their savings to call it quits. When we are not happy at work we lack motivation and produce minimum performances that commonly results in stress. When stressed, we reduce involvement in social gatherings, become isolative, and lack productivity in things that give us joy. This is not conducive to our health spiritually, physically, and mentally. Therefore, it is important to know how to handle stress. THE ULTIMATE DREAM is to do what we love and even with that comes pressure. Talk with an entrepreneur or a person at the peak of their career, they will tell you that stress visited them quite a few times during their journey!
I wish I could trade in my work shoes and go back to playing in the backyard with my childhood friends. Oh, how I wish to be a kid again!
Stress is not going anywhere, it is here to stay for eternity!
Each day we go to work, sit in meetings, listen to people rant about nothing, drive home and get ready to deal with the kids, spouse, pets, and anything else that drives us to want to walk back out the door. Let’s face it, by the time we get home from work we are exhausted, and the last thing we need to hear is a tiny voice telling us how hungry they are! All we want to do is sit on the sofa, watch a little bit of The Walking Dead, and catch up on other things that require us to do the least amount of thinking. We go into this phase every day will slowly make us want to murder someone or blow up like Rebecca did on the last episode “This is Us.”
We don’t want to lose ourselves and look in the mirror one day and say to ourselves, “geez what the heck happen to me?” Life can and will do that if we don’t tackle it day by day. It’s easy to not want to be motivated when we have a thousand and one things going through our minds every day. The good news is this…we can control what we think, we are the operator of our wonderful minds. So its time to get down to business! We can do it, we can get off the couch and tackle life when it tries to knock us off of our feet.
